Frequently Asked Questions.

Do you travel to do estimates?

Yes, we do travel to do estimates. We know that not every car can be driven before we work on it. Some may not run or be plated for road use, or it may be that the owner simply can’t make it to the shop during regular business hours.

So we go to the car.

There are restrictions, however. We charge a nominal fee for traveling time and prefer the car to be a maximum of two hours away. The owner should be present or some one familiar with job to be done.

Appointments are required for any estimates requiring travel.

Do you work on any types of vehicles?

Absolutely! We’re Car People! We’ve worked on Citroens, GMs, Triumphs, Plymouths,, VWs, Bikes, Trucks, even Boats and Airplanes! We don’t confine ourselves to just any one type or brand. If it moves people, we love to work on it.

Is there a waiting list?

Yes. Any shop that does good work is always busy. Small jobs we can usually accommodate right away, but appointments and bookings are always a good idea. Larger, more time consuming projects require booking. Call and inquire.

How do you charge?

In Ontario, all jobs must have a signed estimate and repair order before any work can be performed. Detailed estimates are given (as close as possible), showing labour, parts, material and any sub-letting of services. We strive to be as accurate as possible in our estimates. However, hidden damage is always possible, in which case the owner will have to approve ANY and ALL additional repairs not covered in the estimate. Additional services requested by clients will also require signed authorization.

  • We make every effort to ensure the client is aware of the final dollar amount before we start the job. *

Where do you get your parts?

Whenever possible we try to use OEM parts, new or used. We believe nothing fits like the originals. However, there are some very good reproduction and aftermarket pieces available today, and sometimes they are all that is available.

Depending on the services to be performed, we may source salvage yards, jobbers, or online. Every effort is made to ensure the best value for your hard-earned dollars.

How can I be sure you’ve done what you said you’ve done?

We have an open door policy. Clients are encouraged to call or drop by and check on progress as often as they wish. All stages of the repair are digitally photographed and detailed progress reports are compiled every two weeks. Copies can be emailed or mailed if clients are unable to visit.

What kinds of materials do you use?

We use only top-quality products from manufacturers such as Evercoat, Norton, 3M and NEXA Autocolor.

We believe there are no savings in using substandard materials. We warranty all our repairs, so we want to ensure there are no product failures.

Do you follow deadlines?

We try.

We make every effort to get the vehicle back to our clients when promised, but sometimes there are delays that can’t be helped. In such cases, we make sure our clients are aware of any issues and a new timeline may be established.

Can I help in the repair process or do some of the work myself?

Certainly. Any help is always welcome and the faster the job gets done, the less money it will cost. Of course, we need to approve all repairs that will affect anything we do (welded patches, filler work, materials used, etc).

Many of our customers prefer to do their own disassembly and reassembly, as well as their own detailing.
